Not only Kenren, but Gojun (who I inexplicably like far more than is warranted by his minor supporting role)...
I know Gojun doesn't actually die at this particular point in the story, but...
I also feel sad for the Natakus, whose forms may be monstrous but whose intellect is unknown, poor things raised in that environment and dying in such violent and pointless ways. The one attacking Kenren is crying, perhaps not understanding why Kenren tried to kill him, or because of the pain of its wounds. I wonder if it might not have been a happy, peaceful creature if raised in a sunny field somewhere.
