Japan Trip 2 Day 10

So today started well I had a lovely sleep in then jumped on the net and looked up places to shop and discovered some wonderful things about mandrake! So I decided to go to nakano broadway today instead of shibuya. It turns out (2:30pm) I have time for both!

I started the day with animate thou and even though I got there at opening time it was already jam packed! Ah well what can I do?

I didn't find any saiyuki stuff but instead brought a darker than black book and a tiger bunny doujinshi.



When i got back to the hotel to drop it back off I when through this free summer anime guide, boring boring boring, Saiyuki gaiden...!!! Weee so worth the while! A double spread of our boys! >< yay! At the back there was also a kenshin section is Sano!!! Ooo im do happy <3



Nakano broadway is awesome it has 3 different levels and lots of different things being sold :) i of course focused on saiyuki. But I did pick up a few yugioh related figures while I was there.

I couldnt take photos in Mandrake but heres a picture of the map!

When I was looking for saiyuki pencil boards and I found the pokemon one there was a girl decked out on Lolita goth clothing she was lookog at yu yu hakusho. I told her I was a kurama fan and she looked up and said she was a heie fan. She pointed at the board she then asked what I was looking for and I told her saiyuki and she told me she was a goku fan and I said I loved hakkai and she said he was cool. I agreed and we laughed a little. When I found the pokemon board I pointed to freezer /articuno and told her That was my name reicheru freezer she was amazed lol. :) it was nice talking to someone else (In broken English / broken japanese) it made me remember why this is the place I belong.

I'm on the train now headed for Shibuya for more shopping and walking it's 3pm I haven't eaten yet.

Holly crap i am the god of good direction (i have very good direction skill :D) i totally navigated myself to Mandrake without knowing the foggiest idea where i was meant to be XD my Saiyuki senses mustve been leading me there hahaha.

Actually before i found the Mandrake i found a tokyo hands store, do you guys remember the bonus chapter of saiyuki reload 1 where hakkai changes there clothing and gojyo asks if he got it from Tokyo hands? well as i was taking a photo of tokyo hands and snickering to myself over that i realized i was opposite mandrake XD Wooo!



I didnt find anything else other than Doujinshi and a DVD for saiyuki there but that was enough :) I met another english speaker though, this time a mandrake shopkeep as they talked to me about Saiyuki and asked me where i was from and told me they wanted a pet koala... i didnt have the heart to pull the drop bear joke on them i thought it would be too mean. XD

After i dropped this off at the hotel i then went to the Ikebukuro shops again and found some more doujinshi at Kbooks. But.. when i went back to Mandrake i found another english speaking Shopkeep and she found me EVERY saiyuki/minekura thing in the shop <3

Aaaahhhh!! You found A-in doujinshi!!! I am so incredibly jealous!! I had a couple of her chibi Saiyuki doujinshi and sold them many years ago and have kicked myself in the shins ever since. And of course, everytime I go back to Mandarake, they NEVER have any...

Ive actually found a couple, some of her non chibis as well as her chibis. I think ive doubled up on atleast 1 of the non chibis. XD

Last time i was doing a lot more shopping and looking for things from all of my favorites but this time im an exclusive Saiyuki girl mainly.

last time i spent close to $2500-3000 on postage, and sent back 26 boxes. This time will be less.

Yes the wild adapter Doujinshi is the first wild adapter thing Minekura wrote, generally they got for 10000\ which doesnt interest me. this one was 4200\ so i snapped it up :)

OMG what a great haul today! Such fantastic DJ, and something with Sensei's signature? Wow, awesome. I have two cells that look like those you have, the line drawings - one of Sanzo & one of Gojyo, from early Reload - they are pretty nice ones, I want to frame them.

Can I add something to my list, please? If you see any pretty, porny, and cheap 535 Saiyuki doujinshis, I'd love to have one or two... I only have two or three now. Also I'd LOVE any with Homura, that is any EXCEPT those with him & Goku (the ones with Goku always seem to be terribly non-con.) I know that one's a long shot, there aren't many with my man Homura (I LOVE him so!) I found one on eBay years ago, and I have the one our US artist, PJ Nunn, did, but that's it.

Of course I'll reimburse you for the items & postage, no worries there! And only get them if they are cheap and you don't have to go out of your way, so buying them won't cramp your style for getting all your goodies for yourself that you really want to get! ^________^

I think i may have already brought a good one which i already have (535) thats really pretty. :) Do you suscribe to Saiyuki CAPS? (my one and only post there showed pictures from it.) Its hard to know whether itll be good or not because its all judge by the cover only. There are tones of 535s. I have already picked up a few ones where i mainly had Gojyo on the front and no indication of pairings other than that. :) if you want i can ship em to you when i get home. :)

Again with the Homura ones I wouldnt necessarily know the pairing until i opened it.

Btw i wanted to ask, with the Honey Comb book are u wanting the standard edition 750\ or the Drama CD edition 1550\ (all prices as ish prices btw lol)

The drama CD edition comes with, you guessed it, a drama CD. XD

Yes there will be lots of photos of Fuji ^^ Im worried about getting there though... I hope i dont get lost :S

Since I assume the drama CD will be in Japanese, I guess to save a couple of bucks, go ahead and just get the book alone - it will be frustrating enough not being able to read the Japanese in the book!

Did you mean CAPSLOCKSAIYUKI? I looked over there, and if you mean the one you posted recently, with the boys in drag, I don't think that's one I would want. I tend to like the more sexy/or romantic dj's more than the gag ones. I also like 383, same thing, sexy/romantic. As far as Homura, I guess if you happen to see one where it looks good, drawn well, from the cover, and it's not pricey, go ahead and get it. It's not that I object to HomuraXGoku, it's just that too often they end up being too creepy for my taste. I don't like the fics that portray Homura as this horrible leering rapist, I think there was a lot more to his character than that.

I didn't realize the dj's were in sealed bags when you look at them, that would make it difficult! Just give it your best shot... I can probably wheedle $30 or $40 total including postage out of the money manager here for whatever you can pull together for me, so just do whatever you can within that. I'm sure I will be pleased as all get out with whatever you send me! I really appreciate that you are willing to do it! ♥

Got to Fuji fine :) i will keep and eye out for stuff that same artist that did that gag also does Sano x Gojyo ones. Btw ive never seen a romantic Sanzo x Gojyo XD theyre never romantic more like argumentative.

In the hands of a skilled authoress, they can actually be romantic! The fanfic writer that encouraged me to write and beta'ed my first few fics, befanini (she has accounts on LJ and fanfiction.net) writes amazing 535 stories, complete with smut and very believable romance. I've tried a couple myself, although I am not nearly as good as befi. Now I don't know if there are any doujinshi's that don't get them out of the fight&fuck mode. *lol*

Of course, even in a good fic with those two that is a romance, there is ALWAYS going to be a huge amount of snarkiness, fighting, and fireworks! I guess that's part of why I enjoy that pairing so much, it's NEVER boring! ^____^

It's so cool that Mandrake had the English site so that you were able to find the maps to the stores, and it's cool that you have a really good sense of direction! I'm so amazed at all the awesome things you've found! :D

I'm glad to see that your spirits are better the past few days. Even if it feels like home, it must be lonely to be by yourself sometimes and to not have someone with you to share in the awesomeness that is Japan!! *hugs*

I'm curious, have there been any tremors or quakes while you've been there?
